To help Rei and Family with this medical emergency and expenses.
Waikato
We"ve created this page to help Rei and his family on this journey.
At this stage no-one can say where his journey is heading, but either way we know we need to need help him, whichever road he takes.
On Tuesday the 23rd of February 2021 42 years old Rei's life hung in the balance.
A sore back and stomach landed him into The Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Australia. This then took a drastic turn when it was discovered he had suffered a ruptured aorta, which had lead to a lack of blood and oxygen to his major organs, causing them to start to die.
It's a miracle he was still alive!
He had emergency surgery to repair the rupture and insert a stint into his heart to restore blood supply.
He has undergone 2 surgeries to remove the dead parts of the bowel.
He's on dialysis to give his kidneys a rest as they have taken a beating.
His liver isn't looking great, however we are very hopeful the blood flow will now start to rejuvenate the liver. this is an excruciating wait!
Although we don't know which way this journey is going to go we do know that we need help, Reis family live in New Zealand and he has a long recovery. We need to get Rei's mum Teresa over there, with covid going on this isn't straight forward.
Whichever way his journey takes him it's going to be long and require ongoing costs.
We appreciate all the love and support we have received so far as well as any ongoing help both financially and mentally. we will update this page regularly as we know more. Thank You.
Im Sommer Jeffcoat, Rei's Sister.
Travel costs
Quarantine expenses
Daily expenses for Teresa over in Aus
Any costs associated with recovery or living as Rei wont have work
Or even though I don't wasn't to say it, the other road would mean we would be looking for funeral costs.
