Kia Ora whanau and friends, as of yesterday it has been 3 weeks in the ICU. Zeke is definitely heading in the right direction and today spent a lot of time sitting in a chair. He loves getting hoisted from his bed to a chair. The Dr's are weaning him off his drugs, which are pretty heavy duty. He is also being weaned off the ventilator, this will take time. As soon as they can get him off ventilation they will remove his trachy. He is very grumpy and frustrated but that is driving his enthusiasm to get up and get better. Andrew is still day by day. He is sedated, having kidney dialysis and it is a complete rollercoaster. His oxygen support has lowered to 50%. We are just holding our breath and crossing our fingers and hoping for a miracle.♥️

Nicky also wants to Saya big thank you for all the generosity of everyone we feel so blessed.

  • Wednesday 8th may update

      8 May 2024

Kia Ora team, so here is today's latest update for both boys.Today is a big day for both boys. Hopefully they are going to replace tubes in Zeke's throat with nasal tubes, that will go through nose and down back of throat rather than mouth. The Drs have put him back under as he was getting too stressed with being less sedated. Andrew is having a tracheostomy today at one. So he is going to be sedated more again. The Dr's said he will cope better with that. Andrew has been highly emotional throughout this. The Dr's reckons it's the drugs that he is on. He is having dialysis again just to support his kidneys.

Zeke is still heavily sedated and will be for at least 48 hours. The Drs want to make sure that he will sustain oxygen levels without ventilation. He is also still having temperature spikes which they are investigating. Andrew is not heavily sedated and semi conscious. Still ventilated. They were going to take him off today but decided it was not a good idea as his temperature is spiking, so are also investigating that as well. So a wee set back for Andrew, Zeke is unchanged

  • Sundays update

      29 April 2024

Kia Ora everyone, just a small update about the boys. Yesterday we had a wee setback after Zeke's sedation lowered and he tried to rip everything out. His oxygen was at 70% for a while but today it is down to 40%. That is a small win. They tried lowering Andrews sedation but he didn't tolerate tubes and stuff down his throat, which he needs so he is back under. His BP doesn't need much support now but his lungs do. Both boys are going to be sedated and ventilated for a bit longer yet, but these are wins. Fingers crossed that we are on right side of this. We are cautiously optimistic.
