Help us recover the diagnosis costs our insurance company is denying us.

Sophie was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 HER2-positive breast cancer in December last year.
Since then, I have completed six cycles of chemotherapy and am now preparing for a mastectomy later this month. Radiation and potentially further treatment are still ahead.
Throughout this journey, Jay and I have been incredibly grateful for the generosity and support we've already received. Creating this page is not something we have come to lightly, but like many families navigating cancer treatment, there have been unexpected costs along the way.
There is a long health insurance story, but in short, our insurer has declined our claim. Our insurer are arguing that engorgement of the breast in a breast-feeding mother is a reasonable symptom to presume or suspect a breast cancer diagnosis. With this argument, our insurer is claiming the 'symptom' was 'known' when the policy was signed. This was not the case and has become a matter of unfortunate timing, leaving us with some financial uncertainty. We are now waiting for a resolution through the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman. We are both continuing to work covering most of our living costs and we are using our savings to help cover treatment-related expenses.
We know finances are tight for everyone at the moment but if you would like to support us as we navigate all of this, any contribution would be deeply appreciated. Please do not donate if it will put you or your family under financial strain.
Recovering the money spent on initial tests and diagnosis not being covered by insurance alongside compression garments for lymphatic care, numbing gels to aid treatments, medications, and time off work.
