Helping Hands NZ has branches throughout New Zealand that strive to help people in need with everyday items, clothing, food, furniture, heat
Manawatu / Whanganui
Helping Hands began in October 2015 as a little FaceBook group set up by Anita Nunn. The page grew steadily, with it so did the admin team and the variety of work done in the community. There are now 7 branches in the central north island, with more planned as the appropriate candidates to run these appear, and is now supporting around 6000 New Zealanders in the North Island. Helping Hands runs regular FREE garage sales, offers Facebook groups for FREE trading, advice, food assistance, community events and more. Our goal is to feed hungry families, and ensure basic human needs are met, via supplying heating, support, furniture and the chance to meet people at community events, ending isolation. So far the team have done this out of their own pocket and are now struggling to keep up with demand. All donations are 100% put to use where they are needed most to run this thriving community, weather it be via food parcels, wood for heating, or any other needs brought to the table. We appreciate your assistance. We are beginning the process of registering as a Charity to better access funding, and stability, in the mean time we thank givealittle, for giving us the opportunity to source funds.
I am the founder of Helping Hands NZ and I help run the branches, especially the Manawatu head quarters. I know myself and the team could do with the assistance to keep this running as it continues to grow.
Helping Hands July pledge 27 July 2016
Following a brutal attack on one of our members this morning we pledge all donations received this month to go to the family involved. These will be used for a food hamper, phone topup, petrol vouchers, and paying for parking through her ongoing road to recovery
