Please help Max stay with his Family!!

Nationwide

This is the story of a little boy named Jay and his Dog Max. Jay is 6yrs old and is legally blind. Max is a 6yr old staffy x mastiff.

Jay's very best friend and constant companion in the whole wide world is his gorgeous Dog Max. They have been together since Jay was just 4months old and Max was a puppy.

However due to recent unforeseen circumstances beyond their family's control, they have had to relocate districts and into a Housing NZ home. The family have now been told they can not take Max with them and will have to re home him.

Max is registered, micro-chipped and has no history with dog control. Their new home has a fenced section and he has a kennel and run to use also. He is great with Children and his best fur buddy is his cat. He does not wander off his property and does not disrupt his neighbours. He is used to being in his run and kennel when the family are not at home.

In fact, Max complies with all of the requirements a tenant must meet in order to keep a dog at a HNZ property; this excerpt taken directly off the HNZ website:

"Apart from certified hearing or sight dogs, you need to apply in writing to your local office to keep a dog at your Housing New Zealand home. We consider each application on a case-by-case basis. In your letter please include your name, address and the breed of dog."

No one from HNZ even asked to meet Max, nor did anyone from HNZ come and assess the property where his family now reside. Instead they made a cold hearted, bureaucratic decision from behind their desk citing "fencing issues" and a problem dog in the same neighbourhood turfing poor Max out and tearing these two buddies apart?!!

Max is not "just a dog", he is not the family pet, he is an integral member of this family!

Max is not a guide dog but he is a companion dog for Jay and provides him unconditional comfort and support. Jay has suffered bullying in his previous school due to having to wear a patch on one eye. He is now having behavioral issues at school and home as he struggles to cope with the trauma and stress of losing his best friend.

After reading about their plight on a Dog Rescue site I decided I had to try and help. So, if like me you simply can not stand by and let this happen to this awesome little boy and his Dog, please give a little (or a lot) as we try and fight this HNZ decision.

Funds raised will be used to help with interim foster care for Max (URGENTLY TRYING TO FIND FOSTERS), and we will also look at remedying the fences at his home in an effort to have his case reconsidered.

Any donations or offers of help are greatly appreciated and you can email me at: etphoneshome@hotmail.com
