Lyn has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer has undergone a mastectomy and has type 1 diabetes
Northland
Lyn’s journey started back in 2010 when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 54. Type 1 diabetes does not normally occur later in life so this was a shock. As it took some time to diagnose this, it had caused some damage to her kidneys, thyroid and immune system.
This of course led to a change of life style and we were getting used to managing blood sugar levels. Then in 2015 Lyn was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and had a unilateral mastectomy early 2016. As her immune system was comprised we did not believe that chemotherapy was an option as the effects that has on the immune system. So we decided on more natural therapies, including a drug called Artemisinin, Salvestrol, intravenous vitamin C and drugs for thyroid etc. These seemed to be working well and life started to return to a sense of normality.
Then at the beginning of this year Lyn was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, the oncologists have said they are hopeful they can “manage” it with drugs. Alternative treatment is something we have always been passionate about and have been advised that weekly intravenous Vitamin C treatment will be very beneficial. While the evidence continues to grow in this field, there is no funding available from the government in NZ at this time.
As you may be aware, cancer treatment takes a toll on not just the individual but also on their families. This has put a lot of pressure on not only time and resources but also the tremendous financial burden that comes with it.
I am involved because I love my wife and this has put a lot of pressure on us as a family both financially and emotionally. I would dearly love to see Lyn back enjoying life as she should be able to.
