Just looking to enjoy my life with my family and friends
Nationwide
Hi, my name is Sue Eeles, I’m 44 years old and I have Stage 4 Primary Progressive MS (Multiple Sclerorsis), there are only 4 stages. I am reliant on a wheelchair full-time now. I have little use of my hands, decreased muscle strength and decreased fine motor dexterity, struggle with terrible fatigue and require assistance for all my daily activities. I live with my husband Greg and our 6 year old daughter Brooke.
I have recently had a stay in hospital and my circumstances have changed, I now require hoist transfers for all my cares, I can no longer go out in my family vehicle and miss out on outings and in effect this has made me house-bound. I have caregivers willing to drive, I just need a vehicle to suit my needs.
I am currently on a drug trial and this requires me to use a wheelchair taxi once a week. I also require transport twice weekly to special physical therapy sessions, these are beneficial to be able to maintain muscle strength. I would love to attend my daughter’s extra-curricular activities and social events, such as birthday parties & play dates. I would dearly love to be able go shopping , have my haircut, or run general errands, attend appointments and access the community. In general “just to have the opportunities to do the normal things that most mothers are able to do”.
I am fundraising to be able to buy a mobility van, this would give me the opportunities, freedom and possibilities to achieve all the above, as well as time with my family.
An accessible vehicle would mean that I could access my community more independently, in a dignified manner with any carer, friend or family member. It would “get me inspired to enjoy life again”.
Please if you can all spread this far and wide as possible thru your Facebook, email or worksite that would be great.
