Misty was attacked by a dog and is now having to have her rear left leg removed.
Wellington
Misty is a playful, energetic, friendly kitty.
Shes currently only just 1 year old and has 3, 7&1/2 week old kittens at home who are all missing her dearly.
Over the weekend of the 5-8th Feb Misty had a fight with a big(ish) dog and had her leg fractured in more than 3 places and the skin and fur around her leg ripped. Shes currently awaiting surgery to have the leg removed (that procedure will be going ahead today 11/02/16). It was a difficult decision to remove her leg but with Misty being such an energetic young cat I don't feel she will be happier with surgery's for plates and screws and constant bandage changes and having to stay off a sore leg for 8-10 weeks and may never be able to flex/bend that leg properly again, I feel she will benefit further from having the leg removed and potentially be back up and running around in 3 weeks. It was a very difficult decision, however, to remove the leg.
The surgery to remove the leg is approx going to be $1000, Plus a bit more for all the follow ups and rehabilitation to get her running around like herself again.
I can not wait for misty to come home and begin recovering back to her happy playful energetic self.
Recovery, home 1 week 18 February 2016
Misty is doing so well!! She is running and walking again and back up to almost her happy self (with a side of pain from time to time) at the very end is where she sits to wait for me to pick her up so she can eat her bikkies
