Humans for a cause: Help Nicky to go to study Human Rights in Austria

Christchurch, Canterbury

Hi! I’m Nicky, a Chilean journalist currently working in a cafe in Christchurch, NZ. I have lived here since 2019, and it has been 7 years since I left home. After a big social revolution in Chile, the life experiences of my backpacker friends and the locals that I have met, plus my own ones as an immigrant woman, I started to investigate more about Human Rights. My curiosity became an urgency to do something about it, so in 2022 I applied for the MA in Applied Human Rights of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria.

I got accepted, but didn’t get the scholarship that I needed, so this year I applied again. I explained to them that I wanted to work for Women’s Rights; find ways to give them a voice and space to speak up, to fully develop their dreams, and to be free to decide over their own lives.

This year I got accepted again but now with a partial scholarship to cover some of my tuition fees. This gave me the hope that I needed to believe in the impossible and become a human rights advocate. However, to do so I need to ask for your help as I still have to cover the remaining NZD 20.000

I am aware that these are difficult times, where inflation and an economic crisis are affecting the entire world, but also where everybody have their own struggles to face day by day, so I’m humbly asking you for help.

Your support means the world to me, but I hope someday it will also mean a lot for others, for those I hope I can help in one way or another.

Thanks a lot for your support!

Use of funds

The fundraised money will be spent on paying as much as possible of the remaining tuition fees of my master in Vienna. Even if I don’t reach the target, it will help to cover a part of the tuition fees and/or my life in Vienna during the 2 years master.

Why is this master so important to me?  18 August 2023

A few of you may know me and my passion for social justice, human rights and feminism, but for those who don't, here's a video of me explaining my current situation and why this campaign is so important to make my dream come true.

- I want to become a Human Rights advocate.

- I want to work for Women's Rights.

- I want to be and make a change in this world.

- I want to empower the next generations.

- I want to create spaces for women to speak up, to express themselves.

- I want to do a lot, but it will only be possible with your help and support <3

Please watch the video and support my education.

Your donation will be reinvested in making Human Rights a reality for everyone!
