Help Odessa, 26 years old, a cheerful and loving daughter, sister, friend and girlfriend, beat the fight against Breast Cancer.
Auckland
It all started with a lump on her breast. We thought "very likely it's benign" because of her young age and otherwise she does not have any other symptoms. Then we did the ultrasound where it revealed a suspicious mass (uh-oh). The mass was removed and biopsy was done. We still have our high hopes that it is negative for malignancy. It was extremely dreadful waiting for the results...but nothing could be worst than knowing it is POSITIVE for breast cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Breast Cancer. :-(
Odessa lives a simple life and dreams to have her own family in the future. She is an event planner and entrepreneur by profession, running her online and printing business. In her young age, we know that she has great adventures ahead of her and we want her to conquer this battle with breast cancer! We are unceasingly praying for her full recovery and wellness because we know that our GOD is billion times bigger than the big C!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Odessa could be your daughter, sister, bestfriend, nextdoor neighbour or you! (yes, in rare cases, males could have breast cancer too) Have yourself checked cause early diagnosis is the key to overcome this battle!
I'm the older sister of Odessa and I am wishing to raise funds for her surgical and medical needs. I would like to help her fight this journey and continue on to live her dreams.
Funds will be raised for her breast surgery (left breast mastectomy, where they will take out the whole left breast). This is tentatively scheduled on October 23, 2017. Four weeks after, she is planned to start her chemotherapy sessions that will run for 4 to 6 cycles. She will also be needing a breast reconstruction later on.
Round TWO: Welcoming CHEMO with a CLASSY haircut! 30 November 2017
After a month since her right mastectomy, Odessa has recovered well from surgery. Her bombshell (JP) drain is out of the picture, her bruises has gone and her two boobies is getting more identical everyday! Praise God and thanks a bunch to her fantastic surgeons!
She has finally met her Oncologist (cancer doctor) few weeks ago and has given her the regimen for chemotherapy. The initial plan of 4 to 6 cycles of chemo turned into 15 cycles. This was based on the markers from her biopsy. Though we were saddened by the length of her treatment, we know that it will do the best for her and cure her completely. (In Jesus' name!)
With the length of her chemo cycles also comes the expense of the treatment. One drug was particularly expensive, called HERCEPTIN, which would cost P80,000 per cycle. She would need this starting on her 4th cycle and all the way through her 15th cycle.
This is her chemo regimen:
1st to 3rd cycle - 5FU +Epirubicin +Cyclophosphamide (FEC) + Granisetron
4th to 6th cycle - Paclitaxel + Herceptin
7th to 15th cycle - Herceptin
Next 5 years - Oral Tamoxifen
She is now scheduled for her 1st chemo on Dec 2, 2017. Kindly whisper a prayer for her that she may cured from the good effects of her medications and be protected from the bad side effects.
We thank you for all the support, kindness and generosity we have received. We continue to knock in your hearts to help her with with her medical expenses. God bless you all!
