Reuniting our family with our two girls in South Africa
Waikanae, Wellington
Over the past year our family has walked through one of the most difficult seasons of our lives.
After raising Camilla and Amelia for five years, we said goodbye when we immigrated to New Zealand. Their biological mother in South Africa asked for the opportunity to build a relationship with them, and we felt it was right to give her that chance, even though it meant letting go of girls who had been part of our home and family for years.
Just a few months after arriving in NZ to begin a new life with our other two daughters, everything changed. Camilla and Amelia were struggling, and their mother’s circumstances shifted. We were asked if we could bring them to NZ. There was no hesitation — we wanted our girls home with us.
But bringing them back meant starting the immigration process again almost immediately: legal fees, court orders, passports, medical checks, visa costs, immigration lawyers, and flights. We also needed to cover travel for my mother, who kindly offered to escort the girls to NZ.
After immigrating the first time, our savings were exhausted. To reunite the family we have had to go into $12,000 in debt.
We’re grateful our family is almost back together, but we’re now rebuilding from almost nothing.
If you feel moved to support us, any contribution would mean the world. And if you can’t give, sharing this page would help more than you know.
Thank you for standing with our family.
To settle the debt that we accumulated to immigrate our daughters.
