Bob Jones vs Renae Maihi – URGENT

  • Message from Renae Maihi

      16 March 2020

    Kia ora donors,

I apologise for the update delay and I would like to acknowledge one year since the Christchurch tragedy occured. Moe mai rā e ngā whanau. Kia kaha tātou.

A week or so back we negotiated a final costs settlement for this 21 month long case with Robert Jones’ team. He has paid legal costs but the amount he has paid is confidential to the parties.

Please know, however, that without your donations I would not have been able to cover my legal fees, the fees of my expert witnesses, travel and accommodation costs, and all of the other costs involved in defending the claim and attending the trial.

I thank you all again for your donations towards these costs. It was only because of your generosity that I was able to fight this important fight.

This has been an epic two years of my life as I have mentioned. I walk away grateful that we won and ready to return to my own work which has been delayed as a result.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Stay safe during this pandemic.

    Ngā mihi mahana,

    Renae Maihi

So how long before we see the play about all this? Or the film?

      Can't wait!

    Kia Ora Koutou Katoa,

It has been a great privilege to support Renae Maihi in this Give A Little campaign.

I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of support from people across Aotearoa and around the world.

We have been holding off giving everyone an update, until a prepared message from Renae Maihi was completed.

It is therefore my privilege to share this with you now.

    Kia Kaha Renae Maihi!

May you continue to walk with mana for our people and for all peoples who strive against injustice!

    Nga mihi nui,

    - Leo Koziol, February 18 2020

    MESSAGE FROM RENAE MAIHI:

    "Dear friends,

After a few days of much needed rest I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all.

I am truly blown away by your generous contributions and the numerous beautiful messages. Ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou. In my preparation for trial I read your messages of support and took in the strength that I needed to do the job.

Tēnei te mihi nui ki a koutou, ki a koe hoki Leo Koziol. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and especially you Leo for all your hard work. Ngā mihi ano.

In regard to costs, please bear with us through the legal process as the question of costs still needs to be resolved by the Court.

Thank you again. I am proud of our country. I am proud that we stood together. I am proud that we made it better for us all.

Mā pango, mā whero, ka oti ai te mahi.

With your black and my red, the work will be done.

    Ngā mihi,

    Renae Maihi"

    Mauri Ora!

    Kia Ora Koutou,

A thank you on behalf of Renae Maihi's supporters for your support of this kaupapa. At present the Give A Little page is still open for those who want to support, though the case has been dropped by the plaintiff. The petition has been closed, as agreed with the plaintiff, but you can still express support here if you wish even just $1. We are leaving it open as some people want to make a donation later in the week when they have funds. A formal statement from Renae Maihi will be posted some time during the work week, including where the funds will go. For now, I just want to personally thank you and thank my dear friend Renae Maihi for the privilege of hosting this Give A Little page, where we have been overwhelmed at the level of support.

    Nga mihi nui,

    - Leo Koziol and the Renae Maihi Support Team

  • Inspiring Words for Renae

      14 February 2020

One of our supporters on Facebook kindly shared this beautiful poem. We hope this uplifts Renae and uplifts us all at this important time for our nationhood:

    Kia kaha e kō ✊🏽

    When they tell you

That you're woven from too much magic

    That you're impossible

    To understand and untangle

And you burn too bright to comprehend,

Smile and thank them for seeing your complex being

Even if they don't take the time

To peer beyond the knots and riddles.

You're not meant for everyone, you know.

There are ones on this planet

Who long for the taste of your soul just as it is

    In all of its brilliant tangle of shadow and light;

In a place where you have no need to be anything

But your wild and wonderful truth.~

  • Please Keep Supporting & Sharing

      12 February 2020

Kia Ora Koutou Aotearoa and worldwide supporters of Renae Maihi. We thank you SO MUCH for your support! We need to say at this time WE DON'T KNOW the outcome of the case. The plaintiff has said he DOES NOT KNOW how much he has spent on legal costs and private investigator costs, so he is basically a Millionaire who has written a blank cheque to go up against Renae Maihi - an everyday New Zealander who is not wealthy! So if you can, please make another donation, or please share on your social media networks far and wide! Please help Renae! Your support really makes a difference!

Now that Sir Bob Jones has withdrawn his claim for defamation is he liable for Renae's legal costs?

  • We Still Need Your Help

      11 February 2020

PLEASE SHARE TO YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKS!

Bob Jones has taken Renae Maihi to court, and the court case started yesterday in the High Court in Wellington, New Zealand.

We DON'T KNOW the outcome of this court case. Renae Maihi and her team are making a case to support this important kaupapa - that you all have signed and supported - but we simply DON'T KNOW the outcome. Renae Maihi could be up for paying all of the legal costs of the plaintiff, if the court does not rule in her favour.

Thanks to you, we have fundraised an amazing target so far but WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! Please share the fundraiser to all of your social networks to get the word out. Every dollar makes a difference!

    Mauri Ora,
