Hedgehogs suffer with terrible injuries and sickness. A lot die long, slow, painful deaths. Jackie rescues, rehabilitates and releases.
Wellington
his page has been set up to help a Wellington lady who cares for orphaned, sick and injured hedgehogs and then releases them back into their natural habitat when well and grown. Jackie pays for all treatments, food, cages and anything else required herself, which of course can be a real struggle at times. She has 2 rooms in her home that are full of hedgehogs, plus cages in her lounge if needed, as well as outside. She usually has around 20 sometimes more, hoggies in her care, including babies which she will feed by a dropper every 3 hours day and night! During winter she will make sure they are always warm and runs heating in the rooms to keep it that way.
Jackie would dearly love to have her backyard area and large shed converted to a complete hedgehog haven, so as to be able to have the little hoggies fully prepared for release.
Jackie works tirelessly to save these little hoggies with each one having their own name, photos and a personal diary about them.
Im involved because Jackie will not turn away any hedgehog needing help, and she funds all of this on her own. Vets, food, bedding, extra heating costs in winter, and enclosures. I, like many others are grateful that there is someone like Jackie we can call anytime, and know she will do everything to help.
