Help Robin Lilley to recover

$315 donated
Given by 8 generous donors in around 10 months

On April 22nd 2017 Robin significantly injured her spine leading to two operations and ongoing treatments. Please support her recovery.

Auckland

To sum her up in just a few words, Robin is fun, smart and an extremely kind and caring mother who has a passion for life and is always willing to help those around her!

Shes spent countless hours helping within the community and within her children's schools..... But now it is our time to give back to Robin while she needs us most!!

On April 22nd Robin slipped on her staircase causing the L5/S1 disc to herniate and causing severe nerve compression. This lead to an operation on April 28th. However, while she was recovering in the Auckland Spinal Unit, she suffered another injury leading to the same disc to herniate again. This resulted in her second surgery on May 30th.

She has lost a lot of strength and sensation down both her legs, meaning she can only walk very short distances and relies on a wheelchair to get around.

As a result of this, Robin now also suffers from cauda equina, a spinal cord injury that effects the bladder and bowel functions. Her injury has also caused extreme neuropathic pain and the prognosis for both isn't great.

Robin has a long road ahead of her with the prospect of never fully recovering.

But she's never let this get her down. Shes impressed all her doctors and nurses with her positive out look and motivation to recover as much as possible!

She has also been praised for her support and caring attitude to the other patients in the spinal unit during her stay.

Even though she was struggling herself, Robin still had everyone else's best interests at heart and just wanted to help them! A true testimony to what a brilliant women she is ❤

Robin is a solo mother of 3 amazing children, their ages are 19, 15 and 6.

Between April 26th and June 7th Robin has been away in Auckland Hospital, Middlemore Hospital and the Auckland Spinal Unit for her surgeries and recovery.

This has left her 19 year old daughter to step up into the mother role and look after her younger siblings and the house, whilst continuing her studies at Auckland University.

Now that Robin is in full recovery mode, she is determined to ease the burden on her 19 year old daughter and regain her independence.

However to do that they need your help and support!

There will be on going costs for treatments, medical supports and pain medication for the rest of the foreseeable future.

No matter how small, all donations are immensely appreciated and will help incredibly with her recovery and ease the financial strain on the family.

Thank you :)

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
