On the road to recovery

    Hi

I started a give a little cause page with the hope of getting my dog the help she needed from the vets that I couldn't afford I wasn't sure if it would work or not, and it turns out it is working great, my problem now though is that I only put down the money needed for the CT scan as my amount needed and I am going to need to raise more for the operation or care for her when we actually find out what's wrong with her. She is booked in for her scan this monday unfortunately i have only raised enough for this and outstanding vet bills at present as i put a limit on the page.

So I will need to change this.

Hopefully I can then raise enough funds to follow through with treatment..

Thank you all so far for your support

You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

    PART FIVE

She now has one eye .. and is still not entirely better.

All I could vision in my head after it happened was the incident and how I was so close but couldn't stop it fast enough from happening. . Even still now.. her eye wasn't bad at first ..the vet notes say that someone there should have Been keeping it moist every hour but on the 3rd day when I went to pick her up it looked like she had lost her sight in it.. I even said something to him because of it.. if I had the funds the day I got her to Auckland they could have possibly saved her eye.. so I'm really feeling the guilt ... she's like my little baby. . My best mate.. wud come with me everywhere.. now she's all messed up and possibly internally getting worse..that is why I'm stressing with this cause.. as all I want is to see her happy again :(

    PART FOUR

But once back at home she seemed to perk up a little.. I took her out to the back lawn to rest in the sun for a bit and gave her some water which to my surprise she drank.. then tried to sit up.. started wagging her tail and I couldn't bring myself to put her down just because of the price I'd be facing..

so I drove her to another vet who told me she would still needs scans done but I'll never know if I just gave up over money.. he gave her some more pain medicine and a look over then told me to come back in a few days..

in doing so she was noticeably improving although her eye looked a bit strange..

He said it could come right and gave me some treatment for it.. but it eventually popped out still connected to the nerves

    Causing her extreme discomfort..

I took her back again and he said it would have to come out so I took her home that night and brought her back the next day for surgery

    PART THREE

After a long hard think I realised it was not possible given the time period and ongoing fees of $400 plus medication cost per extra night of her being in there..

I burst into tears and asked them to sedate her so I could take her home to say goodbye to everyone..

On arrival at the VSG vet specialists we took her in for a consultation then we were told roughly what price we would be looking at on departure.. which needed to be paid up front..

    PART ONE

It all started on the owner of the bigger dogs premises and was all just bad timing .. I was getting things out if the car and walked inside walked back out to grab the rest of my things and grabbed my dogs "boyfriend" (Scooby doo toy) put her down and passed it to her to carry inside when I walked in.. she was in front of me and just as we almost reached the doorstep the bigger dog walked out from inside the house.. my dog growled at it because she had her boyfriend in her mouth and the bigger dog just pounced on her with its front legs and while she was on ground possibly bit her as from behind it looked like it's mouth was around her whole stomach area.. I screamed at it and quickly grabbed her off the ground thinking she was dead. She was obviously knocked out frozen with fear or in shock but she definitely seemed dead..and when she came to she was biting down on her tounge and pushing her front paws up around her head with her head tilted sideways.. I wasn't helping the situation because I was in hysterics.. out of town .. trying to find after an hours vet which ended up being a 20min drive away.. was horrible. For days I was crying.. wanted to look after her when the vet went home at night although they didnt allow me to..

after 3 days and nights in his care he told me we would need to get her to a specialist in Auckland and so he put her on a drip and put her to sleep for the drive..

Thank you all so much for your donations so far.. she was able to have her eye removed which was completely hanging out of its socket for over a week..

looking at the vet notes I realised they had only done x-rays of her head. They observed her leg noting down in referral that RH hind leg not working well.

She can sit up sometimes but has not yet stood up or walked and though her eye is healing I am still concerned there may be a possible spinal injury or something that is making standing up impossible.

I'm happy she is still alive although it has become a full time job assisting her with the things she was once capable of doing herself. She has had bowel movement twice since the incident but only whilst under anaesthetics and i'm worried if I don't get leg attended to or what ever other possible cause this could be sorted fast she may have serious permanent damage and it could possibly kill her.

    :(
