Our newest rescue pups Sheeba and Arlo have been diagnosed with parvo virus. To try and save their lives, we desperately need your help now!
Auckland
Sheeba came to us a week ago after her owner contacted us asking that we take her as she no longer had the time to care for her. She had been part of a litter of 13 puppies that the previous owner had given away at only a week old. We had taken on two of the other puppies and had also offered to take this one however were told that she knew what she was doing and was financially able to care for her.
When we took Sheeba on, we were told that at now 5 months old, she was NOT speyed, microchipped nor was she vaccinated. She had been kept chained up and when she got off, she used to take herself for a stroll around the neighbourhood which is where she would have contracted it.
Arlo came to us the day before Sheeba. He was found as a stray, wandering the street's of manurewa. A member of the public took him into the local vet and called us. We were his only chance as the only other place for him to go would have been the pound and because of his breed he would have been euthenased. This poor little guy only narrowly escaped death then but now once again, he is facing it. Only a week afyer his arrival, he was diagnosed with parvo also.
Unfortunately parvo can incubate for anywhere between 10-14 days and the only way to prevent it is through vaccination.
There is no cure for parvo. All we can do is put her on supportive care to battle the infection and keep her hydrated.
Please help us to cover the costs of this so that we can try and save her life.
Passion4Pawz took Sheeba in after her owner couldn't have her anymore. Arlo was found as a stray wandering the streets of south Auckland.
Taking on dogs that would have been put down or are living in horrible abusive situations. We rehabilitate them so we can get them into loving forever homes where we provide on going support so they never get neglected again.
