I made the NZ U20 Junior Men's Volleyball team, need to raise 5K in order to compete at the Asia Youth Games in July.

Bay of Plenty

My name is Tayne Corporaal, I am a seventeen year old, Year 13 student from Trident High School in Whakatane. I am setting up this page as I endeavor to source funds for my upcoming trip to Myanmar (Burma).

I am a passionate sportsman. I love playing all sports with my main passion being Volleyball. I have been competing in this sport since I was at Intermediate, and have really enjoyed the competitive and challenging sport that it is. It is always great representing your school at a sport you love, alongside your best mates.

I am a person who sets high personal goals and I work really hard to achieve them. I have been working hard to achieve my goals over the last five years and 2016 has seen all of my hard work pay off. Since I was in Year 9 I have been fortunate enough to make representative teams for volleyball:

? Year 9 & 10 I represented the Eastern Bay of Plenty

? Year 11 I made the North Island team which travelled to Canberra to compete in the Australian State Championships

? Year 12 I made the NZ U19 Development team which played again in Canberra (I was named Most Valuable Player for this team)

? Yesterday, I was named in the NZ U20 Junior Men's team for 2016. We will be competing in the South East Asian Junior Men’s Championships, in Myanmar from the 29th June - 8th July 2016.

I am extremely proud to become a NZ representative, it feels like all of the hours training both on the court and in the gym have really paid off. My family is equally excited and looking forward to supporting me as I endeavor to make this trip a reality. We are already planning a lot of fundraising events, however volleyball is a minority sport in NZ and as a result players have to pay for all of the expenses. For me this means that I have to come up with $5000 before the 28th of June. As you can imagine this is a big ask for any family and mine is no different.

With only six weeks until we leave, any support would be really appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read about me and my NZ representation in Volleyball.
