Urgent funds needed towards the funeral costs and repatriation of the body of Raj Kumar back to Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, India.
Auckland
On Thursday 7th September 2017, Raj Kumar's life was tragically cut short when he was hit by a truck in Huntly, while on his way back from work. Raj was a newly married man whose wife was going to join him in New Zealand to begin a new chapter in their married life. Raj came from a poor family in India, who he helped support by coming to New Zealand all on his own and working hard to have a better life. He also sent a lot of monetary support to his family back home. Raj had no close family in New Zealand, so his friends and colleagues have come together to help his family out with the paperwork and huge cost of ensuring his body makes its way safely back to India where they can say their final goodbyes to their son, husband and friend. Any surplus funds will be given to the family towards funeral costs and the shortfall they will feel not having Raj's financial support anymore.

As we understand at this moment, ACC may contribute but that will only be confirmed after investigation. In any case there will be a further cost to getting the body from the main international airport in Delhi to Raj's village.
Reuben Mathias was listed as his emergency contact and has been granted the authority to act on the family's behalf. He was a very close friend of Raj and the family have requested that Reuben coordinate everything in New Zealand as Raj was here on his own
I'm involved as a friend of Raj since there is no family here to handle the logistics
Funds will be used to help with the cost of taking his body back to his family in India. Any additional funds will go towards funeral costs as well as the family's financial support now that they have lost their main breadwinner.
