Donate directly to a Nepalese trekking company and help rebuild the village of Achhane, destroyed in the Anzac Day earthquake.
Hawke's Bay
I fell ill whilst trekking in Nepal three weeks ago and ended up in a Kathmandu hospital for three days. My trek was cut short and I came home early, leaving Kathmandu the day before the quake. The amazing people who helped me when I needed it are now in need of help themselves. Ramkrishna Timalsina, owner of Himalayan Scenery Treks, is currently working to rebuild his home village of Achhane, distributing food, shelter and medicines and assisting with demolition and rebuilding. His small team are purchasing goods in Kathmandu and ferrying them to Achhane one car load at a time. I received the following message from Ramkrishna which has spurred me to set up this page :
"It’s really painful situation in Kathmandu & Remote part of Nepal. As being part of nation, our team Himalayan Scenery’s is doing hard work to providing basic need like food, tent for temporary shelter, medicines and other basic need to victims. And also most of our team member lost their houses by the Massive Earthquake, but luckily we all are safe.
We are collecting some donation to help for our Team & those who have lost their shelter on this terrible disaster. So, if you can help financially please donate to our bank account, by credit card or By Any money transfer service. Your small donation can bring big happiness in someone’s life. We are honestly using this money to provide food, Medicine (For injured People), clothes, Tent (to those who have lost their houses and are stranded without shelter), maintain the healthy environment (Dead Animal Removal & Odor Control), many of domestic animals has been killed in the countryside by the earthquake, there are lots of possibilities for the epidemic through this animal and further lots of people may be effected by such horrible situation. There are many places where the government not been able to help those people. Instead of waiting for government support, we are making our effort to help those people and we are further going to such places with our medical team to provide relief and medical support to help and awareness program for upcoming epidemic."
Corruption is rife in Nepal, and donations made through government channels may or may not be used as intended. All funds donated will be passed directly to Ramkrishna to be used where they're needed most. Even a small amount goes a long way in Nepal. Thank you for your help.
I'm trying to help those who helped me in Kathmandu. Their homes and businesses have been destroyed, but they're fighting back.
