I have set up this page for my brother Wayne who is battling a brain tumour
Canterbury
In the early hours of the 17th of April my 32 year old brother had a massive seizure, an ambulance was called and later that day he and he wife Sasha were told he has a brain tumour.
It was suppose to be benign (low grade) and on the 11th of may he had a resection. They got 60% of the tumour, he had a hard recovery and he and Sasha were off work for a few weeks. Unfortunately when the biopsy came back it wasn't as the doctors had thought and was a grade 3 AA brain tumour for which there is no cure.
He and Sasha went back to work part time after surgery. Wayne was due to start radiation and chemo last Monday 26th June, but on the 25th he developed a severe migraine, his wife took him back to hospital that evening and a CT and MRI found a large cyst and fluid build up. He now has to have another surgery to drain the fluid with more time off work for both him and Sasha.
This has put considerable stress on his young family with Sasha having to run between the hospital, his appointments for Wayne as he can no longer drive due to the seizure and their children while also trying to keep up with work to keep all the bills still being paid. Also trying to cover extra treatment that are not funded such as vitamin c infusions which cost 200 twice a week and more time of work.
Being able to help them be able to focus on what’s important, and not have to stress about money would make such a huge difference. Most of the money raised would go towards their day to day bills and hopefully if we could raise enough to have extra to put towards the vitamin c shots, and other health supplements that may be needed.
Wayne and Sasha truly are amazing people, that are always there to help everyone else. Any small amount will make such a huge difference to them.
I'm involved because this is my older brother and his family
Will go towards paying for the day to days bill, that pile up when you can not work. And also the vitamin c infused shots at $200 each; that Wayne has been covering.
Help Wayne fight for life 31 July 2017
Hi All
So after the drain was put in we were back at hospital to have the fluid drained within a few days, then a week later Wayne was back in hospital with another massive migraine.
They found the cyst and split into little cyst and couldnt be drain there was also more soft tissue growth (tumour) in the area that was cleared in the first surgery.
On July 11th they re-operated and took all the new tissue/cyst and a little more of the original tumour, and new tumour tissue was unfortunately graded as GBM grade 4. The surgery went well and Wayne recovered much faster than the first surgery but lost his left peripheral vision (which does seem to be getting better) and is still numb in some places on his face.
Wayne has started Radiation and Chemo last Wednesday
