I am walking the length of New Zealand with no money. Instead I will rely on wilderness skills and the generosity of strangers.
Nationwide
My name is Henek, and I am a 24 y/o Sport and rec student from Estonia.
I'm all about the outdoors, meeting new people and experiencing things outside my comfort zone.
So far I've travelled the rain forests of Australia, seen the wilderness of Tasmania. I've done mountain climbing in Spain, ran along the coastlines of Portugal.
I crossed Europe with no money in the Red Bull Can You Make It competition, and the next challenge is New Zealand.
As a sportsman, I always set myself goals higher than my capabilities, so I always discover something new and my progress is ensued. This adventure will offer the chance to take action and risk, which changes our perspectives and generates innovative thinking.
After the overwhelming generosity shown to me in the first few weeks of this adventure I decided to pay it forward and am raising $10,000 the disability organisation 'PHAB" (Physically Disabled and Able Bodied) to fund sports education and equipment for people with disabilities.
I am walking the 3000 km walk without any money (Te Araroa trail ), relying on wilderness skills and the generosity of strangers.
It is a different way to meet local people, to talk and share my intentions. I just ask food or sometimes accommodation. Mostly I sleep in a tent.

Thanks for the support!
I am hoping to inspire people everywhere to dream big and have the courage to push themselves.
I am hoping to support hundreds of New Zealanders with a disability to engage in sport and recreational activities.
When my walk is completed I will return to Auckland to work with PHAB and to get behind the long term goal of building a climbing wall for people with disabilities.
PHAB is an organisation that 'walks the talk' we are inclusive, promote and support self reliance that enhances the social opportunities for the disabled community. Our members are empowered to choose what they would like to do within the Social Groups, and given the opportunity to develop skills and confidence necessary to become a more valued, social, and inclusive member of society.
Drawing on over 40 years of experience in New Zealand and other countries around the world, PHAB is a place where you can meet new people, develop new skills, make long lasting friendships, and gain independence in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
