Running the Auckland Marathon to raise support for the "Here and There" charities - Awareness Cambodia & Love India.

Auckland

I have a deep admiration for those on the ground working to make a difference in vulnerable communities desperate for change. As I am not there, as many of us never will be, I have decided to challenge myself to run a distance longer than I ever considered personally possible, to fundraise "Here" to support others "There".

At times I have been really disappointed in the human race! We're the only species that exploits all species including itself! We poison the soil, the water, the air, our food & our bodies. So it's when I meet inspiring people like Annie, that my faith in humanity is restored. She has taken a massive leap of faith to give her time, treasure & talent to a community destroyed by inhumanity, with "Awareness Cambodia"

It's a lot easier to NOT run a marathon. I do that everyday. That's easy. It's a lot harder to take that first step to commit to doing it. It's not going to be easy, I guess I was looking for a pain free sign. At about 15k, Red Beach, seized ankle & I questioned, "If I'm meant to do this it should be pain free and easy?!" But Nobody said it was easy, it's a Marathon, and the pain I'm experiencing is NOTHING like what the families & children have gone through, that I want to support.

So that's where I need your help. I'm putting myself through some physical pain & endurance, I'd like to give you the opportunity to participate financially!

As I cannot be there, as many of us never will be, I have decided to challenge myself to run a distance longer than I ever considered personally possible, to fundraise "Here" to support others "There".

There are Sooo many worthy charities & organisations but Annie and Love India are close to our team, our Whanau & in my heart since I started running. I run past Annie's house, & I've pounded prayers into the pavement for these nations & ours for the past few months. For me, at this moment, this is what Here & There is about. I'm here, running for those out there, who can't run from what's happened to them. I'm running, with perseverance, the race marked out for me, and would greatly appreciate your support.

A little bit about the charities:

Love India:

Edge Kingsland has visited and established connections with the trust ‘Love India’ supporting incredible people running Slum Schools, Homes for Girls in Delhi and also with a family who lead a church in the Himalayan region of Almora. (Joseph and Sarah, with their Children, pictured)

Annie Wilson is in the field working with Awareness Cambodia, a not-for-profit aid organisation working in partnership with communities to directly assist some of the poorest and most underprivileged in Cambodia.

Sophie Daish's involvement (page creator)

A team promoting charities and missional work both in NZ and our global community, helping amazing people as they support the marginalised, the vulnerable, those here and those there.

With direct links to individuals in India and Cambodia, the funds raised will go straight to the heart of the communities in need.

Hey Sophie, we love your passion and commitment to actually get out there and do something that is not easy to fundraise for those that need our money much more than we do! Good on you :)
