Big or small- your generous koha will help us gift this beautiful painting to Jason.
Wellington
When I first saw this beautiful large painting last week at a local cafe artspace- I remarked to Julia next to me how I wished I would win 'lotto' as I'd buy it for my friend Jason, as the man in the painting looks just like his dad, Garry. You see- Garry also had a wee foxy dog, and and he had a love of fishing, just like that man in the painting.
Garry Jackson was well known and respected for being a kind, community-minded man who put others first. His stint as a volunteer firefighter spanned just shy of FIFTY years, attending thousands of callouts with Martinborough Fire Brigade, where he was fire chief from 1992 to 2014. Yes we could name several other men in the community who have given their time almost as long- but Garry achieved this while courageously battling on the inside with an illness.
My friend Jason has seen this painting too, and he loves it, because when he sees this painting, he sees his dad Garry in it, full of life and colour.
So I've started this givealittle page to you all to please take the opportunity to donate towards it's $1,900 purchase. I'm sure if we donated a dollar for every call out he attended, we'd clinch this.
We know this painting won't bring Garry back, but in asking our wonderful Martinborough Neighbourhood community of peeps who knew and loved Garry, to givealittle, so we can wrap it up and gift it to Jason with love, it will shine colour back into his world of grey.
Jason and I have been friends for 43 years.
The painting is $1900
