Our fundraising page for restoration costs of the old BNZ Building in the Hikurangi rural village in Northland
Hikurangi, Northland
Help us to save our heritage building in the heart of our rural village!
Our beloved BNZ building was also home to the Town Council and the Hikurangi Maori Wardens, and the small building has recently been leased to the HBA so it can restored for community use, preventing its demolition by the local district council.
The restorations are severe, the building is currently unusable due to degraded piles and floor, and to receive funding support we first need to raise around $50,000 ourselves to contribute as “partnership funding”.
We are reaching out to anyone who has a connection to Hikurangi, heritage buildings, sustainable restorations or just anyone in general who wants to help us achieve our restoration goals.
Once the building us useable it will once again be home to the Hikurangi Maori Wardens and will also be the hub for a number of other local initiatives including a pop-up food bank and business hub.
Please help us with the worthy cause, all contributions help and are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
All funds will go towards supplies and labour to replace the piles, sub-floor, plumbing, and front wall including windows, door, and canopy
