Please help Hikurangi Community Library repairs
Raising money for essential repairs to our Community Library.

Our beautiful historic Community Library needs repairs and maintenance to come up to modern building compliance. We are a Volunteer run Community Library administered by a NFP Charitable Trust (also run by volunteers). We need to replace the foundations, do deferred maintenance and repairs and paint the inside and outside. We also need to insulate the dwelling at the rear of the building. There hasn’t been money to do any fixing up. Please help us save our beautiful historic community library.
About us
Hikurangi Friendship House Charitable Trust was formed in 1983 and became a Charitable Trust in 1989 by locals working in the interest of our Community.
We purchased the Old Post Office Building in 1992 (with the help of the ASB) and after a lot of hard work we moved our Community Library into this in 1993, with a lot of volunteer help we are still running the Community Library today.
We manage the Hikurangi War Memorial Hall for hire, which includes Indoor Bowls, Badminton, Zumba, Older Forum for the Elderly and other Social Events.
Use of funds
Bring the building up to required public building specifications including replace the foundations, do deferred maintenance and repairs and paint the inside and outside. We also need to insulate the dwelling at the rear of the building.

Hikurangi Library fundraising update
We’ve raised $751 so far in the Give a Little Page and $220 has been donated via the Library and Friendship House. Thank you SO much for donations so far and to those who have shared information about the Give a little link…every little bit helps towards our ultimate goal of restoring our beautiful Library.

We are planning a second hand book stall at the 8 September Hikurangi Market. We would appreciate donations of good quality second hand books, they can be dropped off at the Library or Friendship House Monday & Friday 9.30am to 3.00pm
Tuesday & Thursday 9.30am to 12 noon
