An opportunity to assist Tarchin and Mary in paying for a second hip replacement for Mary

The hip replacement that Mary received with our help in April 2022 has given her four great years and is still going strong. However, unfortunately the other hip is now causing increasing pain and difficulty and she is in need of a second hip replacement. Given the wait times under the public health system for elective surgery, Mary and Tarchin have very sensibly opted again for private surgery.

The surgery is scheduled for April 2026. The costs are higher than last time- between $35-$40,000NZ - but, having experienced the success of the first hip replacement, they have decided that the mobility and quality of life it will offer Mary is worth the money.

This appeal is going out to Tarchin and Mary's global community of friends. If you are in a position to donate some money and help them with a portion of the costs it will be hugely appreciated."

Bringing forward the closing date 30 March 2026

Tarchin and Mary have received a heartwarming response to this appeal both through this page and also as direct donations to their account. The amount given is close to covering the entire cost of the surgery, so we are bringing the date forward to end in March ( rather than on 9th April). Much appreciation and thanks to all contributors. The world seems like a bleak place at the moment but there is still kindness and love between friends. ❤️
