9 year old suffers serious burns on school camp
Hokitika, West Coast
On Tuesday the 24th, October 2023, a group of primary school students from Hokitika headed on a camp of a lifetime to Waipara Adventure Camp.
This quickly turned into a tragic event when a 9 year old boy suffered serious burns. He was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with his Dad by his side as he was present at camp, thankfully.
He has already had 2 surgeries so far and many more to come. He is in a medically induced coma.
With ongoing surgeries, hospital appointments, and treatments plus day to day living, there will be unexpected expenses for this beautiful family.
This is a tragic event that has not only affected the young boys whanau but also the wider community we have set this page up with the permission of the whanau so the community and wider community can show their love and support to the whanau.
So, on behalf of the whanau, thank you all for your love and support.
Whanau friend and work colleague.
Ongoing unexpected expenses, hospital visits, treatments and everyday expenses
Home in time for Christmas 27 December 2023
After 3 nights last week at Ronald Mcdonald House we were given the green light to head home to Hokitika.
So very grateful to each and every one who have helped our family over the past 2 months to get to this stage.
So very happy to have had Christmas Day at home and a break before we ready ourselves to face the ongoing appointments and future surgeries.
Thank you all so very much.
