9 year old suffers serious burns on school camp

Hokitika, West Coast

On Tuesday the 24th, October 2023, a group of primary school students from Hokitika headed on a camp of a lifetime to Waipara Adventure Camp.

This quickly turned into a tragic event when a 9 year old boy suffered serious burns. He was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital with his Dad by his side as he was present at camp, thankfully.

He has already had 2 surgeries so far and many more to come. He is in a medically induced coma.

With ongoing surgeries, hospital appointments, and treatments plus day to day living, there will be unexpected expenses for this beautiful family.

This is a tragic event that has not only affected the young boys whanau but also the wider community we have set this page up with the permission of the whanau so the community and wider community can show their love and support to the whanau.

So, on behalf of the whanau, thank you all for your love and support.

Hello beautiful people

I just wanted to update you all on Louie 2 years on.

December saw Louie complete year 6 and finish at Hokitika Primary School.

The school year was focused on having him ready to move onto Year 7 at Westland High School and he was awarded the Certificate at prizegiving for significant academic progress.

He also was recognized for his achievements in Athletics for the shot put.

He also competed at the District swimming sports and has started attending Seido Karate again.

We have had 2 surgeries last year and another procedure coming up.

Very proud of this kid he is just getting on with enjoying life.

Thank you all again for your support.

Regards from the Parker family.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
