We are half way towards our goal of a HALF BBALL COURT at Cass Square, Hokitika. We now need your help to make this dream a reality!
Hokitika, West Coast
The Westland Basketball Association has been looking at options for the past few years to bring an outdoor basketball half court to the local community, one that can be enjoyed by all at anytime.
We are thrilled to have finally received approval from the council to install a half court at Cass Square, a central park in Hokitika and are now asking our wonderful supporters to help with donations, big or small, to get this project started.
Hokitika is a small rural town which currently offers limited recreational opportunities for our youth. We are excited to introduce a new outdoor court that will provide a safe and vibrant space for people to gather and engage in positive recreational activities.
Situated next to the newly developed local playground, this hoop will create an inviting environment for all ages, to play and connect. This initiative aims not only to enhance community well-being but also to promote physical activity and strengthen bonds among residents of all ages.
Open to everyone—from Westland locals to visiting players and spectators—this space will be a hub of activity and enjoyment. We envision the elderly community, who regularly use the park for fitness and fresh air, delighting in the lively atmosphere as they watch this dynamic space come alive with entertainment and camaraderie.
Thanks to the generous donations of local businesses we are half way towards our goal and are now asking the wider community to get behind this. Any donations are greatly accepted.
We have managed to win a hoop through BBNZ’s Hoops in Neighborhoods Campaign and are now fundraising for the ground works and installation of the hoop. As soon as we hit our $ target we will push play on the project and make our dream a reality.
