Speaker series in Secondary Schools to tackle homophobia in sport
Nationwide
The Waterboy is raising funds to take our speaker series throughout New Zealand secondary schools.
We organise prominent Kiwis to address students on homophobia in sport with three main objectives:
1. Comfort those who are discovering they are not straight
2. Ensure those students know that sexuality is not a reason to not do sport
3. Let straight students know that derogatory terms make it harder for people to accept their sexuality and you never know who may be homosexual
We are The Waterboy. All money raised in this will go directly towards organising prominent speakers to speak in NZ Secondary School, just like what you see in the video.
Waterboy - Breaking down barriers to give people opportunities for personal development as a means of creating stronger people and stronger communities.
Funds will be used to organise speaker series, contributing towards set up, travel, speaker's time and filming of speaker series for maximum social impact.
Thanks Henry, We know it's hugely needed as well but that doesn't always translate to people contributing to help make a difference. People like you are awesome. Thanks for your contribution.
Thanks so much Jo! We'll be sure to invite you along to the talks. They are so well received and hugely powerful. Thanks again for your contribution.
Wow thanks Fiona! So glad you appreciate the work we are doing. We'll invite you along to one of the next talks that happen thanks to these contributions. You will be able to feel for yourself the incredible difference it makes. Cheers
Thanks for your support Michelle. It may sound cliche but it's so true, we wouldn't be able to put the time/effort and resource into driving this forward without your support. Hugely appreciated. We will put you onto our email list for updates unless you advise otherwise. Thanks again
