In loving memory of Micah — supporting Stephen and baby Aiden as they navigate life after unimaginable loss.
Canterbury
On Monday, 29 September 2025, baby Aiden Shannon was born at Christchurch Women’s Hospital, delivered by emergency caesarean. He was the long-awaited and deeply cherished first child of Micah and Stephen Shannon.
Everyone who knew this beautiful couple shared in their joy and excitement, celebrating for months as they awaited the arrival of their precious baby boy.
But just a day after Aiden’s birth, the unthinkable happened. Micah suffered a catastrophic cardiac arrest, leaving her in ICU fighting for her life. In the early hours of Saturday, 4th of October, Micah passed away — leaving her family and friends in shock, grief, and disbelief.
What should have been one of the happiest moments in their lives has turned into an unimaginable tragedy. Micah was radiant, kind, funny, and full of love — qualities that touched everyone she met. Her passing has left a hole in the hearts of many, but most deeply in that of Stephen, who now faces life without his beloved wife while caring for their newborn son.
This page has been created in the hope that, through the collective support of all those who love and care for Stephen and Micah, we can help ease some of the burdens Stephen now faces as he navigates this heartbreaking new reality.
There were no insurances policies in place at the time.
Government support may be applied for with WINZ. However, if approved, this won't cover everything.
Let us honour Micah’s memory by helping Stephen and Aiden find light, strength, and hope through this incredibly difficult journey.
Micah was my close friend of 25 years, and Stephen, the beneficiary, is her husband.
Funds will help Stephen with living costs, funeral expenses, and caring for newborn Aiden. Any amount raised will go directly toward supporting them during this heartbreaking time.
