Honouring my grandparents’ faith in me, one brushstroke at a time

Kia ora, I’m Brooke, the artist behind Brooke Hannah Commissions.

For much of my life, I was told I would never succeed as an artist. Instead of giving up, I chose to keep creating. Art became my lifeline as I learned to live with CPTSD, and it has carried me through grief and hardship. Last year I lost my Nana to Vascular Dementia, and just last month, my Grandfather to brain cancer. They were my biggest supporters — they believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, and pushed me to turn this dream into something real.

Now I am working hard to grow my small art business. My goal is to raise $500 to expand beyond prints, stock a wider range of products for local markets, and prepare for the upcoming Arts In The Ville festival. Every dollar will go directly back into the business so I can:

Offer more products (mugs, coasters, canvas prints and more) from my red bubble and reach new customers.

Build passive income streams, freeing me to focus on affordable commissions.

Provide art to non-profits and community projects at “pay what you can” rates.

This is more than just a business — it’s about honouring my grandparents’ faith in me, and proving that even when you’re told you’ll fail, you can create beauty and hope.
