Hoonhay Food Bank - raising funds for a forklift !

$906 of $15,000 goal
Given by 14 generous donors in around 3 months

Help Hoonhay Food Bank get a forklift! Our old trusty has finally given up and we are hoping to get a forklift Help us help our community

Hoon Hay, Christchurch

Kia Ora Whanau !

Here at the Hoonhay We are passionate about providing nutritious Kai to whanaus and individuals who just a need a little help! We work incredibly hard to provide a place of no judgement , free of social stigmas and a welcoming place to get help when you need it. For the first 3 years of the Hoonhay food bank this was run from our family home .. what started as an opportunity to help a few families a week has grown . We are currently doing an average of 150 - 170 Food parcels per week where each whanau is eligible again after 30 days . For anyone that follows us our old workhouse forklift has finally given up! With bulk items being collected every week ( including a massive donation of 800kg of potatoes every week ) we heavily rely on having a forklift to unload at our end ! Our entire operation is run on volunteers and donations of Kai and this will make the absolute world of difference to us , our clients , our volunteers and the efficiency of how we work . In such a reactive space we are working in we are often offered large quantities of goods at short notice and often these companies are happy to send in a truck provided we have the capacity to unload at our premises! Help us help our community ! Thank you to all reading , we appreciate you !
