Deki Ashenda Fundraiser
Auckland
Hope of Tigray is a newly founded Tigrayan youth-led fundraising organisation In Auckland. We are planning a brunch to fundraise for the female victims of GBV (gender-based violence) in Tigray. With rape being used as a weapon of war - girls as young as 4 years old to 80 year old women have been victims during this genocide resulting in sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies. With hospitals still recovering from bombing and looting by Eritrean and Ethiopian troops, these women are facing alarming levels of pain and life-risking diseases with no medication and hospitalisation.
All funds raised through ticket sales and donations will go towards the women of Tigray this Ashenda. Ashenda is recognised as the festival of women and is widely celebrated across Tigray. What was once a joyous celebration is now tainted with the scars of all that has passed and the remnants such horrors have left on the women of Tigray. As Tigrayan Kiwi's who have watched our families struggle with what has been happening in their home, we want to use our privilege and voice to spread awareness and be a voice for our voiceless sisters in Tigray.
Thank you for your support, and we would love to see you all at our event! 💛
