Hope to breath again alone....

A car accident put my brother in a prison: not able to talk, to move or even breath on his own. Please help me giving hope.

Auckland

My brother in France was freshly engaged, had new work opportunities ahead and a passion for sport...then a car accident turn his life for the upside down a month ago.

He can't talk, can't breath on his own and can't move....doctors are very pessimist but he s fighting hard and so far he proved them wrong. Now the intensive care unit need the space and stopped all re-education, just waiting for a space in any centre. My mum and his partner are going there every day to do the work of the physio to help regain some mobility or sensations.

My mum found the best centre to give him the best chance to hopefully be able to breath on his own, but this is in Spain and it cost a lot. This is where we need help.

It breaks my heart to see my brother who was a sportive and bubbly person, to be a mute vegetable on a bed....and being far from my family is killing me (I'm French).

But this is how I can help even far away,.....any support will help to give him a chance to maybe have a life again.

Working hard  8 October 2022

Thanks so much for all the donations, can't thank you all enough.

So some updates.....well unfortunately the centre in Spain was a big joke, and we ve all been chocked by the lack of professionalism and the unqualified staff !!! For a center of this reputation this is just mind blowing !!! My brother has been in danger, and i mean it. Nurses don't know how to look after someone with a tracheostomy, unbelievable ! And that is only the major thing, they don't do the simple hygienic check , they don't have the adequate things for a person tetraplegic.

In the meantime, despite all this Jo is working hard and was able to talk few words with the tube. And he started working on the breathing as per the pic. Still a long road ahead though.....

Anyway, my family is now again in emergency alert to have him transfer back to France ASAP. We were fortunate to find a place in a good center in Nantes, and he should be there within 8 days. I m leaving next Sat, 15th, for a month and finally be with my family.

Thanks again for all your support.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Hey Jess, I am so sorry I didn't see this to contribute earlier! I hope your brother receives the care that he needs to recover in Nantes. You are such a loving and kind soul, I am sure that seeing you again and having the support of his family around him is going a great way to strengthening his resolve to heal xxoxo
