Hey guys
We're Rewa Clark (Director) and Adam Cooke (Producer) and we are creating a short film called 'Hori' for our final project.
Currently we are third year Communications students from AUT, both majoring in Television and Screen Production. We are both passionate film makers with an awesome idea that we would love to translate into a film.
Our film follows the story of a young Maori boy called Tane, who is struggling to find his own identity and to understand what it means to be of Maori descent. The ‘Tough upper lip’ attitude of a Father who seems to show no emotion because emotions show weaknesses and if it is just a joke then it should always be laughed about rather than taken seriously. This short film showcases the problem and struggle of identity within New Zealand households shown through casual racism. New Zealand as a society shows the idea that it is okay to laugh at different cultures for their indifference even though many are made as a derogatory term. Specifically in this short film we aim to portray the effects and reactions of this through Tane. Our aim is to create awareness for this issue, teaching people to think before they speak. We want our audience to understand this problem and to spread the word by sharing it and discussing it with others.
We want to make the best film that we can possibly can, but we need your help. Whether its through donating or sharing this page/ spreading the word. We would love your support, anything and everything is appreciated.
Your generous donations will go towards feeding our wonderful crew and actors, paying for transport expenses and hiring actors to cast in our film. We'd love your support.
