Hospital bills not covered by insurance - need help

I was on the trip of a lifetime in Italy when I came off my bike, suffering a concussion, bruises and wounds, and ended up in hospital for 6 days.

Have you ever tried claiming insurance overseas? It's a nightmare and I've found out they won't cover the hospital stay and I am left with medical bills and unexpected air travel home costs of $7000 NZD.

This is without the costs of my mum flying to Italy to bring me home. or my cancelled flight. Now looking for a job to pay this back.
