In Feb I will be riding 370km for the Central South Island Charity ride to fundraise for 8 charities.

In September my Grandad lost his year long battle with cancer. Not one to sit still, he rode 50km/day until his final few weeks. In memory of Grandad's post-retirement obsession with road cycling & in support of a number of extraordinary charities, I will be riding 370km from Timaru - Kurow - Tekapo - Timaru as part of the Central South Island Charity ride from February 23rd to 25th 2017.
The CSIC ride annually raises over $100,000 for 8 charities. The 2017 charities include:
- Hospice
- Family Works
- YMCA
- Heart Kids
- Parkinsons
- RDA
- Plunket
- Seniorcare
While living between Dunedin & Lumsden, I have also been travelling to and from Timaru to complete compulsory training rides for the event.
I will have recently finished my thesis by the end of February so what better way to celebrate completing my PhD by riding 370km for charity.
This is a big step out of my comfort zone and the task of training and writing a thesis is challenging to say the least, however people associated with the above charities are faced with much more significant challenges on a daily basis.
As a participant of the CSIC ride, I have to contribute at least $500 of fundraising by the time of the event. As a broke student, I can't afford this so I need your support!
Please support my crazy journey.
Any contributions are greatly appreciated.
