I’m an aspiring actor working and raising funds to go to London where I will study and perform with the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company
Auckland
My name is Brook and I’m an aspiring actor who has just completed year 13, and I’m now raising funds to get to London where I will study and perform with the New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company in July in 2019.
My journey started when my school won the regional SGCNZ National University of Otago, Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival. I then travelled to Wellington where I played the lead in my schools’ performance of “King Lear”. That’s me as Lear in the photo.
I was then picked to complete at the SGCNZ National Shakespeare School Production workshop in Dunedin where I learned many ways of embodying several Shakespearean Characters in a short space of time.
On completion of the course I was selected to join a group of other young talented actors to form the New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company.
Our trip to England next year includes a number of educational workshops as well as partaking in Q&A sessions with established actors and directors from West End shows. The trip culminates in a free public performance at Shakespeare’s Globe.
My dream is to be a professional stage actor. To get there I need $9000. I’m currently working at a bar in a part time position and I’m saving every dollar to make it to London. But I can’t get there alone so I’m reaching out in the hopes that you may be able to assist me to get there.
Thanks for reading my story.
The funds for the trip will be used for flights, accommodation and food for the three weeks I will be away in London. Any additional funds will be used for further study workshops and higher education in the field of drama.
Thank you so much!! I really really appreciate your super generous donation. I havent seen you in ages. I work at the good home and if you and T would like to catch up sometime I will definitely shout you a drink! Thanks again - Brook
