Build an accessible, exciting, and, safe, public pump track for the community

Heathcote Valley, Christchurch

A super exciting project to build a new asphalt pump track at Ferrymead Park is underway. This pump track will be a fun, inclusive and enduring recreational space for all ages and abilities and will be situated by the Ferrymead football / athletics clubrooms.

Pump tracks are designed to be enjoyed by bikes, scooters, skateboards and skates, with no pedaling or pushing required.

Well‑designed pump tracks allow beginners to roll features comfortably, while experienced riders can jump and generate speed — making them an ideal outdoor playground for everyone from first‑time riders to elite athletes.

The site has already been secured, concept and landscape designs completed, and a significant portion of the required funding has been raised. Community support is now crucial to help bridge the remaining gap and turn the vision into a lasting asset.

ALL SYSTEMS GO!  9 February 2026

What an awesome afternoon of fun at the Ferrymead Pump Track Launch on Saturday 31s January at the Heathcote Valley Mountain Bike Jump Park! Riders of all ages took to the track and jumps, families mixed and mingled, sausages were consumed, skills demonstrated and littlies were encouraged.

This is exactly why we are creating a local pump track - it will be an incredible local recreational asset for the community. A place to have fun and connect for teens, kids, families and even seasoned riders and those on skateboards and scooters.

The project is well underway. We have council support and funding, a site and a design ready to go. Now we just need you!

A huge thank you to those who have already contributed via this page and for helping bridge the gap between what we have and what we need.

Thank you to all those who came along on Saturday and for the amazing volunteers and demonstration riders.

Also a big thank you to Chris from Twentysix Frames Photography for the photos (@twentysix_frames / https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559511519688 )
