Lifeline Fiji do not have their own transport. Our aim is to raise funds so they can buy their own (second hand) vehicle.
Wellington
Our team at Chop Sui recently visited the humble, hard-working team at Lifeline Fiji. Their efforts to save lives of those in crisis is relentless and it's done so with limited funding and without their own transport.
One story in particular that was shared with us on our visit, was of a late night distress call from a woman down at the sea wall in Laucala Bay, with her 4 month old daughter, threatening to take her own life. As per any other call taken by the small team at Lifeline Fiji, they set out to do all they could to support this person in desperate need of help.
With no vehicle available, a taxi was called, the team waited for the taxi to arrive, then set off down to assist this young woman. The cost of the taxi was significant and paid for out of the team's own back pocket.
While in this instance the outcome was positive, the Lifeline Fiji team are constantly challenged in regards to response time and funding to assist those in desperate need.
Our video link tells the full story of what we're trying to achieve and gives an insight into Lifeline Fiji through an amazing man Jeremaia Merekula.
Supporter of Lifeline Fiji. We want to raise funds for Lifeline Fiji so they can purchase their own fleet vehicle to improve responsiveness to those in need
The NZD$10,000 (approx. $14,500 Fijian Dollars) will be used to purchase a second hand Toyota Prius (or similar) so the Lifeline Fiji team have a vehicle available to respond quickly and affordably to those in crisis.
