Let's keep Rotorua and surrounding areas connected with food security, so those who are struggling do not go hungry.
Bay of Plenty
Rotorua Whakaora was once Love Soup Rotorua. During Covid-19 Alert Level 4 the focus was shifted from providing meals for the homeless, who were rounded up and put into motels, to providing food security to people in the community and surrounding areas. Just prior to Alert Level 4, their existing van, which they had to purchase themselves, died. Renault New Zealand kindly offered them the use of one of their new vans to continue servicing the community with providing food to those who needed it. We are hoping to purchase the van as a reliable vehicle to continue this essential service, keeping the community connected through food security so people do not go hungry.
We are hoping to raise funds for the purchase of a van to continue serving the community by providing food security to people who are suffering during this unprecedented time.
Rotorua Whakaora is about connecting food to the people. We are Food Rescue Partners with Countdown Rotorua and collect daily from them to distribute within the Rotorua region and surrounding areas.
The funds will be used to purchase a new, reliable van for Rotorua Whakaora to help them continue collecting donations of food items to distribute to the Rotorua community and outlying areas. Any surplus will be utilized for other ongoing costs.
Thank you all so much! 10 June 2020
