Create nature playground, create habitats for bees, birds, bugs and butterflies, and organise learning circles, for everyone.
Christchurch, Canterbury
The Woodland Playground is an area within Rawhiti Domain in Christchurch. It was designed and developed by a group of local New Brighton Volunteers.
Constant vandalism and theft from the playground has got us pulling out our hair. This comes after theft of many many smaller trees/plants, both natives, and nectar bearing exotic trees, one of the large disabled swings being totally removed, vandalism of the fairy grove created by so many little locals and just general disrespect of this wonderful area.
The latest is the removal of 2 x 3m high Jacaranda trees which were growing so well. These trees cost us $600.00 each which was granted to us by one of our awesome local funding groups. This is so, so disappointing. These trees are necessary for the butterflys, birds, bees and bugs that live in the Woodland.
