Mental health awareness for young athletes in sport.
Walking the length of New Zealand to raise money and awareness for Mental Health within sport in Aotearoa.
Te Araroa (New Zealand's trail) is a continuous 3,000 km walking track from Cape Reinga to Bluff. The trail covers many national parks, townships and communities. Safety equipment, appropriate clothing, food and a tent will be all that we carry with us.
We hope to give back to what this country has been able to offer us and use this as an opportunity to incorporate all of the things that drive us as people; sport, adventuring, the great outdoors, and mental health awareness.
The goal is to fundraise as much as possible to support Mental health within New Zealand sport for young people. We hope to pay homage to those suffering from mental health issues in sport.
We intend to connect with communities throughout the trail. By tracking our journey on the website linked, it will give people opportunities to get involved. You can show support by providing shelter when we pass through your community. This can be as simple as letting us pitch a tent in your backyard, supplying food, and sharing stories.
Please feel free to contact us for more information.
Thank you.
Funds will go towards a mental health professional, who can deliver mental health seminars / educational sessions to football clubs & young athletes. So they can get the right information to help deal with anxiety and depression.
