Humanitarian Aid for Sutita

$1,721 of $8,750 goal
Given by 11 generous donors in 14 days

Sutita lives in NZ with her only relatives but must return alone to Thailand. The hope is to raise enough to complete her qualification.

Auckland

Sutita is a 20 year old Thai student currently living in New Zealand with her Thai Aunty and New Zealand Uncle.

The core issue for Sutita is a humanitarian one. Her only viable support is with her Aunt and Uncle in NZ. If she returns to Thailand she will arrive with no financial or family support and she will be placed in a very vulnerable position.

She came to NZ supported by her uncle and aunty to build a new life

- They planned to adopt her but intercountry adoption rules and costs made this impossible

- She is an only child.

- Her grandmother is very ill and in no position to help.

- Employment will be very difficult to find to enable her to support herself in Thailand

CHANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES

- Family illness and redundancy affected her Aunt and Uncle’s ability to fund tertiary studies

- Her father in Thailand died soon after she arrived in New Zealand in 2017

- Her mother has made no contact for the last 2 years and she has been unable to trace her

- During Covid 19 lockdown the course she was studying as an international student was forced to close due to the loss of international students

- The financial circumstances have changed for her Aunt and Uncle making it impossible for them to fund the completion of her studies

- In order to maintain her visa she needs to enrol in a new course to complete her current qualification.

- Another institution has accepted her enrolment pending international student course fees.

MY INVOLVEMENT

- I was her teacher in Secondary School where she was an international student and in my form and curriculum classes for two years.

- She then worked as a volunteer in my class plus others during 2019.

Sutita is a talented, modest, helpful, positive and caring person who is far more comfortable helping others than being in a position of having to ask for help herself.

Please help us raise the fee of $8750 to help Sutita complete her education and remain with her Aunt and Uncle.

I was Sutita's teacher whilst she was at Secondary School in New Zealand. She also worked as a volunteer in my classes in 2019.

Use of funds

Tertiary fees. Covid lockdown forced closure of her current course and changes to her relatives financial situation.

I have been changed to the payee and will pass the donations on to Sutita as it is simpler because of my NZ citizenship and documentation.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Thank you so much for your kind donation as I know there are so many people in need at this time. It is very helpful in our mission to allow Sutita to complete her qualification in NZ.
