Hunter has been making steady progress recovering from his surgery and his head is looking great! He is refusing all pain medication so must be doing ok The strong steroids hes being taking to help reduce swelling have been making him eat like a horse which is great as he lost 5kgs but is now starting to gain again. He has been busy with Phil doing hotlaps around the ward on a walking frame. Each day comes with small improvements but we are learning so much about brain injuries and how the brain works most importantly - how tired he can get so easily and realizing that time will be essential in his healing . Still no news on when we head up to Auckland for rehab as covid restrictions have meant the rehab centre cant fit us in with reduced numbers being enforced. Was hoping allowances would be made under these circumstances. Been great having Phil staying with us for the weekend to help time pass. My son is getting his sense if humor back as Phil threatened to give him a sloppy kiss since he couldn't run away- Hunters reaction was to quickly hit the nurse call button! Cracked me up!
