Hopefully my page inspires people stop and consider what their life would be like if they had such a debilitating, progressive disease.
Christchurch, Canterbury
Peter is in his mid sixties and is well known in New Zealand for his kind, caring, selfless help towards fellow beings. Peter is a spiritual person, who has spent much of his life in service to others, promoting their self development and well-being. He now needs support, as he faces this progressive disease which affects his coordination, mobility and subsequent, quality of life.
After the Christchurch earthquakes in 2010/11, he was pivotal in establishing post earthquake de-stress courses, where over 1,200 people participated. He had already set up a prison programme in New Zealand to help both prisoners and staff cope with stress in general. In these courses, he taught physical exercises, yoga and breathing techniques that release stress and trauma. These are only two examples of Peter's service to the community.
As Peter is unable to work because of the increasing symptoms, the NZ pension is unable to meet his increasing needs and his wish to live independently for as long as possible. The choreiform movements can burn up to 6,000 calories a day as the movements worsen consequently food bills escalate, still Peter does not complain or feel sorry for himself and always aims to help others or keep their spirits up.
Peter has no private income or funds to fall back on. Donations would help decrease his anxieties and worries about coping in the future as his needs escalate.
Your support for Peter will mean so much to him and all those who love him.
With much gratitude 🙏 💓
Peter is a dear friend of approximately 17 years. I have witnessed and personally experienced, his desire and ability to inspire, guide and encourage others to have a better life and he has always lived a frugal life in order to devote his time to others.
