Help Kate get the jaw she needs, to live the life she deserves.
Northland
Hi, my name is Kate Greenaway and I'm doing something I never thought I would have to do again – ask for your help to get my other jaw joint replaced. After a successful replacement thanks to your generosity & support in early 2021 (https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-kate-get-a-working-jaw), my left side has also deteriorated to a point where replacement is the only solution. We believe this surgery will cost around the $80,000 NZD mark and is not covered by both my high-cover insurance policy or government funding.

Good News and Bad news! 2023 update 25 March 2023
Update: Firstly, a huge thank you to those who donated- I truly cant begin to express how grateful I am! Mid 2022, we found a new surgeon in Auckland who is amazing- and wanted to try a different less invasive surgery first prior to committing to the TMJ replacement we were originally told that we needed. Which was amazing news- and meant that at that time, we didn’t need the 70k originally quoted! The funds that were donated to this page by so many of you lovely humans went towards costs of the modified surgery such as travel costs and costs of equipment such as the jaw stretching device and post operative/recovery costs. The surgery went ahead in July and worked incredibly well for a few months- and saw me eating burgers and living my best life- however, unfortunately- this is no longer the case and in December- we found out that the left side had deteriorated to end stage despite the surgery and I was again reliant on feeding tubes, pain medications and can no longer open my mouth past 10mm. And we now have no option left but to do the total replacement on the left side as originally planned. Which we have created a seperate page for (https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-kate-get-another-new-jaw-and-her-life-back).
