I'm being brave and asking for some help.

$340 donated
Given by 7 generous donors in around 3 months

This fundraising story is about financial help due to a medical condition and loss of business equipment.

Browns Bay, Auckland

I'm posting this because I have a very good friend and his family that are in need. Mike ran a very successful roofing business and his wife ran their little shop called The Cutting Board, life was so good and they intern did so much for the community. On the 31st March 2025, Mike had 2 seizures out of the blue. Mike has been in and out of hospitals and doctors' room since. He has had 7 episodes since with multiple seizures each time. The doctors at North Shore Hospital have done MRI's, CT scans and every other test under the sun. Mike has been put onto a lot of different medications and dosages, but the seizures continue. Mike has been told that he is not to be alone, drive or work in his roofing business. This has placed the family under an enormous financial pressure. Mike and his family have no family in NZ so they have no one to support them through this difficult time.

Mike, his wife Naomi and their two sons have been working hard in their little shop. Mike has even started BBQ to make ends meet. On the 29th December 2025, they arrived at work and their container that held a lot of the equipment and stock for the BBQ had been damaged.

Mike and his family are desperately in need of some assistance to replace the items taken and generally just need some help with living expenses.

List of items taken were a Hob, griller, chip fryer, slicing machine, food warmer, some knives and stock.

They had a previous page, which you can see via this link here: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-mike-get-the-medical-help-he-needs

Thank you for reading and for your kindness.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
