Cheryl is on a Journey to Japan for Cell-based Immunotherapy to rid herself of CANCER and get back to living!
On February 9th 2018 Cheryl’s doctor broke the news that the serious and often debilitating back pain she had been suffering from for a number of years, was in fact an aggressive CANCER.
After a barrage of tests Cheryl was officially diagnosed with a rare stage 4 CUP—Cancer of Unknow Primary that had metastasised, affecting bones throughout her body and causing significant damage to her spine. The extensive nature of the damage to several of her vertebrae has meant that Cheryl has had to stop her work as an Early Childhood Educator as she has been identified as an extremely high fall risk and is limited in her physical activities.
There are no further treatments for Cheryl’s cancer available in New Zealand. While initial radiation therapy, chemotherapy and bone strengthening infusions have worked to reduce Cheryl’s tumour markers to a residual level there is no definitive cure for her rare diagnosis. In NZ it is considered incurable.
HOWEVER with the help of an Australian Cancer Navigation Expert Cheryl and her family have been offered HOPE through a cell-based Immunotherapy Treatment that has been successfully used in Tokyo, Japan. Cheryl will need to undergo treatment in Tokyo for approximately 4 weeks with the support of her husband Steven, leaving their five young children at home in NZ in the care of family.
Funds for treatment, flights and costs associated with travel, accommodation etc while in Tokyo.
Steven is my best friend.
Funds will be used for the cost of treatment, accommodation and travel costs.
