Kia ora friends & whanau. Let’s show our love and support to Linda & whanau at this devastating time. Aroha nui
New Plymouth, Taranaki
It is with heavy hearts we share the tragic news of Alans passing.
Linda and Alan had tirelessly worked and saved for what was meant to be the trip of a lifetime. However, this journey took an unimaginable turn just 16 days into their six-week European adventure
Tragically, on 20th October, while in Cannes, France, Alan experienced a devastating medical event that would change everything. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Alan was taken to hospital and after days of testing, he was confirmed as having little brain activity
On the 25th of October, at 8pm NZ time, Linda faced the most unimaginable moment of courage, supported only by her family through FaceTime, with heavy hearts, they honoured Alan’s wishes by turning off his life support
The enormity of this loss is unfathomable for Linda and his whanau
His generous heart, cheeky grin, and ability to touch the lives of others will be sorely missed.
We’ve created this page for friends, whānau, and the wider community to contribute, towards easing some financial strain and allowing Linda the space to focus on healing and honouring Alan's memory. We acknowledge the emotional and financial burdens Linda faces. The logistics of bringing Alan back to New Zealand is another enormous undertaking for Linda.
Any Koha, however small, will be greatly appreciated and will help us show our love and support for Linda.
Alan will forever remain in our hearts, and his wairua will continue to inspire us all.
Moe mai rā Alan

All funds raised will go towards Alan's tangi costs and help Linda with living costs
Update! Alan's final farewell 😢 14 November 2025
We want to take the time to say a huge thank you to everyone that has so generously given koha, love and support over these past devastating weeks that Linda and the whanau have been living.
Fortunately, today we have been able to take Alan home for his first and final night. Tomorrow morning there will be a beautiful truck convoy to take Alan to his service at the Taranaki racecourse, where we can remember and honor him together. He will then have his final truck ride (In his new work truck - how special) to the Taranaki crematorium.
Linda and whanau hope you all come alone and share his final farewell tomorrow Saturday 15th November
